The Donhodzo Personal Pension Plan is a personal investment managed for you by us, Donhodzo Micro Pension Fund, to help you save any amount that you can use to contribute in a pension fund that will give you a guaranteed income after retirement. It is a unique and innovative Fund that has been structured taking into account of the following:
All the informal sector employees and employers, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s), Zimbabweans working abroad who have no formal retirement provision for working directors and employees.
Farmers, Rural Communities, Marginalized groups, Domestic workers, Low-income earners, unregistered workers and many of the small professional practices such as law firms, doctors, pharmacists, consultants, etc. are by virtue of their small staff complements unable to maintain viable employer sponsored Pension Funds.
Anyone who is self-employed or who earns an income but who can't join an employer plan or anyone who is a member of an employer pension scheme but also earns money somewhere else or would like to supplement the employer pension can access the Donhodzo Plan.
HOW IS THE FUND STRUCTURED
The Fund is set up through its Trust Deed and Rules and is fully registered by the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC), the regulatory body responsible for registering and supervising the operation of all Pension Funds in Zimbabwe.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE FUND
- Extending pension coverage to underserved populations, including informal sector workers and low-income earners
- Allowing individuals the options to contribute, in their personal capacity into the Fund for retirement. Such contribution can be made weekly, bi- weekly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly or annually at the discretion of a member.
- Using the Donhodzo Micro Pension Fund as collateral for loans, improving access to credit for small businesses and individuals and unlocking the potential of the informal sector and small businesses by providing a secure retirement savings mechanism.
- Decreasing the burden on family members to support their elderly relatives
The Fund therefore enables individuals from diverse backgrounds and occupational pursuits in Zimbabwe and in the Diaspora to save for retirement.
What makes the Donhodzo Micro Pension Plan the right choice?
The Donhodzo Micro Pension Plan is a portable investment pot as it can move with individuals whenever they change jobs.
The Donhodzo Micro Pension Plan does not affect your ability to get a state pension.
The minimum age at entry is 18 years and maximum age at entry is 55 years
Contributions are payable in cash, bank transfers and deposits, via e-transact and mobile money platforms.
- Minimum Standard Plan of US$20 /equivalent to ZIG
- Silver Plan US$30/equivalent to ZIG
- Gold Plan US$40/equivalent to ZIG
- Platinum US$50 and above per month/equivalent to ZIG
Pension Fund members can opt to increase annual contributions or make ad hoc lump-sum additional contributions.
Members can also choose to join a Group Life Cover and Microfinance pool, meaning on the contribution amount, a certain percentage is transferred to Donhodzo Microfinance. This amount will be used by members to borrow and grow their businesses.
